Summer Lovin’: Jonathan & Joseph’s Romantic Wedding

On Saturday, August 4, Joseph Hladik and Jonathan Carlz shared their profound love for each other with their friends and family at the Oak Brook Bath & Tennis Club. Guests joined together for a warm summer evening in front of the pond, where Joe and Jon exchanged vows. Pavel Adamek from The Adamkovi Photography was happy to capture all of the grooms’ most special moments.

The ceremony was followed by a short cocktail hour and a reception in our Clubhouse, during which Joseph and Jonathan—and the entire wedding party—made an entertaining grand entrance. Guests were delighted at the sight of Jon and Joe’s best men leap-frogging over one another into the room.

Then came the cake cutting, which matched a rustic theme. Two small pinecones sat atop the swirling center of a cake resembling a tree slice. Jon and Joe shared big grins and bites of cake.

Food was arranged by Tasty Catering, a caterer with over 25 years’ experience in high-caliber full-service catering for Chicagoland’s weddings and other special events. The meal started with the following delectable hors d’oeuvres:

  • Prosciutto-Wrapped Asparagus: drizzled with lemon caper mayonnaise

  • Smokehouse Date: bacon-wrapped date stuffed with cheddar cheese

  • Bacon and Cheese Baby Reds: red potato cups filled with smoked bacon, chives and cheddar cheese

Dinner was arranged into stations, and guests were free to roam around the room and select a station that suited their fancy. The meal included two delicious entrees:

  • Chicken Champagne: sautéed chicken breast with sun-dried tomato champagne sauce

  • Black Pepper Crusted Sirloin: black angus beef, roasted medium rare with red wine sauce

And lots of sides including:

  • Rum Glazed Sweet Potato and Apple Gratin: sweet potatoes and apples layered with pecans and rum, cinnamon and ginger

  • Cavatappi Pasta: basil pesto, sun-dried tomatoes, roasted zucchini and yellow squash

  • Tasty Bistro Vegetables: zucchini, yellow squash, carrots, peppers, red onions and herbs

  • Artisan Loaves and Rolls: sliced plain, multigrain and Toscano loaves, rolls and butter

  • Waldorf Salad: torn crisp romaine, red apple, celery, grapes, candied walnuts and honey-lemon dressing

Guests ended dinner with moving speeches made by the best men. The grooms thanked everyone for participating in this monumental day made for the two of them.

The group was then encouraged to disperse, mingle, partake in photo booth fun and graze on the dessert display, which starred cookies personalized with the couple’s initials, making for an extra special treat.

The secluded location and woodsy scenery of our venue set an ambiance of comfort and romance. The couple shared plenty of intimate moments together among the rows of trees and were able to wander the expansive green grounds.

What’s a wedding without a night of hearty dancing? Jon and Joe shared their first dance as groom and groom on the outdoor patio. Lights and music were provided by Patio Lights – A Posh Production and Admit One DJs.

The dance floor included a plethora of beautiful moments, like the mothers and sons dance and an adorable flower girl busting out her best moves and maybe even a pair of split pants. It was truly a day meant to celebrate Joe and Jon’s love for one another.
